Tailored specifically for women, PowerVie Boot Camp is a total body training program designed to empower participants of all ages and abilities to take their health and fitness to the next level. This comprehensive workout program, developed in the San Francisco Bay Area, has proven successful across the nation. AlaVie Fitness owners Heather Glenn and Mary Beth Gonzales are proud to share the PowerVie Boot Camp program - and their total wellness approach - with women around the Bay. Back How is PowerVie Boot Camp different from other fitness programs? PowerVie Boot Camp is designed to give you all the tools you need to support your commitment to your well-being. What types of exercises does the PowerVie Boot Camp program include? Each PowerVie workout is designed to help you achieve peak performance and provide you with incredible support at the same time. Our ever-changing workouts combine calisthenics, resistance training, sports drills, and core work to tone and strengthen your muscles and increase your cardio fitness. We also incorporate short distance running/walking, weight training, medicine ball work, jump roping, crunches, obstacle courses, par courses, hill running/walking, relays, team challenges, agility and power drills, stair climbing, partner drills, pilates and sport yoga. During each session, we'll teach you about proper form and core stability. Our workouts embody a "functional fitness" approach designed to make you quicker, stronger, and more agile - whether you're training for a triathlon or for your daily life. Back How many coaches will I have? AlaVie is committed to maintaining a low boot camper to coach ratio to ensure that you get the hardest workout you deserve. One head coach leads each PowerVie Boot Camp session along with one or two assistant coaches as the class size requires. Larger classes are split into smaller groups by fitness levels (you get to choose your group). Back What if I am training for a fitness event or participate in other fitness activities? Not only will PowerVie Boot Camp compliment your other fitness activities, it will also enhance your athletic performance. Our unique combination of cardio, resistance, and agility exercises works every muscle in your body and is guaranteed to enhance your strength, endurance and power. In addition, our coaches can give you exercises specifically targeted to your sport or event and/or put together a customized training program to help you reach your goals. PowerVie Boot Camp is designed for women of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. We will never ask you to complete exercises that go beyond your capacity! We are here to support you and to ensure that you feel like you're part of the team. To that end, we ask you to participate in fit tests at the beginning of camp so we can properly gauge your fitness level and capabilities. In addition, coaches demonstrate both high-impact and low-impact versions of exercises and vary the intensity of workouts on a daily basis to minimize fatigue and injury. Back What kind of nutritional guidance will I receive? During your one-on-one pre-camp consultation, your coach will ask you about your diet and provide you with basic nutritional suggestions. You will be given a journal to track your nutrition during the 4-week program which you can review with your coach. You can also ask your coach for nutritional advice at any point during the program and request suggestions for healthy eating during your post-camp consultation session. In addition, AlaVie includes recipes in each of our newsletters to give you ideas for incorporating healthy eating into your active lifestyle. Back What types of women go to PowerVie Boot Camp? We're proud of the diverse group of women who attend boot camp - from reformed couch potatoes to marathoners and tri-athletes in training. From college athletes to new mothers and grandmothers. Most campers have some history of exercise, but it's not required. We welcome women of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels.Back Will I be sore after the workouts? You may feel some soreness for the first 2-3 days or even during the first week of camp. After that point, it generally is slight to moderate. This is a natural part of the process that lets you improve and build muscle tone. To help you deal with sports-related pain, we've developed partnerships with a series of Certified Massage Therapists (CMTs) who offer discounts to participants in our program. Along with enjoying dramatic physical improvements, AlaVie provides you with a supportive fitness community and introduces you to women who share your passion for a healthy body and a balanced lifestyle. In addition, our PowerVie Boot Camp program instills a sense of energy, confidence and balance that you carry into the rest of your life. While you can expect short-term results, our program is designed to give you the tools and inspiration to achieve long-term wellness. Back What other programs or events are included or offered? AlaVie regularly hosts educational or community events designed to give you the resources you need to enhance your health and fitness, contribute to the community, and socialize with other boot campers outside of our daily workout sessions. You will receive more details about new programs and special events on our website and in our email newsletters. Back When can I expect to see results? Although every person is different, most boot camp participants experience a loss of 1-4% body fat after their first four week session, along with marked improvements in speed, agility, and endurance. After the first week of camp, you will most likely notice a significant boost in your energy level - not to mention your self-confidence! Remember to give yourself time to achieve your goals and set realistic expectations. Fitness is a lifetime journey so enjoy the process of becoming and being fit! Back What happens after boot camp is over? You will meet with your coach for a post-camp consultation to reassess your goals and gauge your results. Your coach will help determine the best next steps in your wellness program and provide exercise and nutritional suggestions designed to help you stay healthy and fit. Many campers return for a second and even third camp, as we offer multi-boot camp packages and annual memberships (click here to learn more) at a significant cost savings. Back What should I bring to camp? 5-10 pound hand weights, a yoga-type mat, a water bottle, running shoes that have been purchased in the last 3-4 months, positive energy and a "go get 'em" attitude! Back Where do we meet? Women's PowerVie Boot Camp sessions take place at outdoor locations to refresh and invigorate you while you work out. There is plenty of parking at all sites. In San Francisco, we meet at Crissy Field and Golden Gate Park On the Peninsula, we work out at Central Park in San Mateo and at Rinconada Park in Palo Alto In the South Bay, we meet at De Anza Park in Sunnyvale, at Campbell Park in Campbell, at Bramhall Park in Willow Glen, and at Community Park in Morgan Hill. In the East Bay, we work out at Heather Farms Park in Walnut Creek. NOTE FOR MORNING CLASSES: On Wednesdays, we usually take a field trip to a location within a 5-minute drive of our primary meeting spot for a cardio intensive workout. Generally you don't need your mat or weights on these days, but you should check with your coach first. Back How often will we meet? Participants will meet 5 days per week, every Monday through Friday, for one hour during the four-week program. We also offer three and four day per week programs if you cannot meet five days per week. You may upgrade to the five day per week program at any time, and we will simply prorate the remaining days. All participants will be expected to arrive on time! Back If I choose to attend boot camp 3 or 4 days per week, which days should I come? You can choose any days. But if you attend 3 days per week we recommend that you attend Monday/Wednesday/Friday to give your body time to rest between training sessions. In general, we structure our workouts as follows:
Evening classes do not meet on Fridays. For evening classes Monday through Thursday is a mixture of cardio, resistance and core work. Back How much does it cost? Many people describe PowerVie Boot Camp as affordable personal training in a group environment. The registration fee for the 4-week camp ranges from $210-$345 depending on the program selected [see specific locations for exact pricing]. Your daily fee is anywhere from $16.25-$18.75 -- a fraction of the cost of personal trainers who tend to charge between $50 and $100 per hour. In addition, AlaVie offers annual memberships and 3-month boot camp packages that enable you to save from 10-25% on our boot camp programs. Please see our payment page for details. Back What is the refund/credit policy? If you register for a boot camp program but are unable to attend camp due to health issues that are confirmed in writing by your treating health care provider prior to the beginning of your first scheduled session, you will be entitled to a refund of any amounts paid toward that program minus a processing fee of $25.00. If you discontinue a boot camp program after your first class begins due to health issues that are confirmed in writing by your treating health care provider, you will be entitled to a credit, not a refund, which may be applied to another AlaVie Fitness boot camp program to the extent the credit is used within six (6) months following the date you discontinue such prior program. If you discontinue a boot camp program due to non-health related reasons and would like to petition for a credit towards a future session, please send an email to info@alaviefitness.com to request a credit petition form. Credit petition forms must be received at our main office (in Campbell) no later than 5 business days after the completion of the camp session for which you are petitioning a credit. Participants will receive a response to their petition form within 10 business days following the submission of the petition. Any credit granted is personal to you, nontransferable, and not applicable to private training. The amount of the discount will be determined by the management of AlaVie Fitness, which determination is final, but will be calculated based on the amounts paid for the number of full classes missed. Back Is there a make-up policy? Missed days can be made-up any time within the same camp session without approval from AlaVie management. Missed days may not be made up in subsequent camp sessions. If you are unable to make up missed days in the session, you may qualify for a credit towards another session under the rules outlined in the refund/credit policy. Please contact the AlaVie management team at info@alaviefitness.com if you have questions regarding this policy. Back When does the next camp start? Please go to the registration page, choose your location, and see the calendar. Back What is the registration process? Go to the register page and complete the registration form and submit your payment information. Once you’ve completed registration and payment, you will receive a confirmation email with information about how to log-in to your AlaVie Fitness online account. Once logged in, you will find your welcome packet, fitness and nutrition materials and information on how to schedule your pre-camp consultation. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours, please contact us at info@alaviefitness.com. Back What does the pre-camp consultation include? The one-on-one pre-camp consultation includes the following: - An introduction to boot camp and the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the workout series. - A review of your medical and fitness history. - Assistance in setting your fitness goals and tips on how to best achieve these goals. - A brief nutritional walk-through and the opportunity to obtain feedback on your eating habits. - A few simple body measurements to see where you are prior to beginning camp. We don't care what the measurements show! It's strictly for a post-camp comparison. These numbers and all other information will be held in the strictest confidence. - You will receive your Fitness and Nutrition Journal and an AlaVie logo item. Back What does the post-camp consultation include? The one-on-one post-camp consultation includes the following: - An assessment of your progress towards your goals, along with additional goal planning. - A brief review of your fitness and nutrition journal (as needed). - The ability to ask your coach for health, fitness and nutrition suggestions. - A reassessment of your body measurements to determine changes in lean and fat mass. - Assistance in determining the best next steps in your wellness program.
