AlaVie's Prenatal Fitness Boot Camp

Coached by AlaVie co-founder, mom and fitness expert Heather Glenn

“As a mom and fitness expert I am frequently asked how I returned to my pre-pregnancy figure and fitness level so quickly after having my first baby.  There isn’t a magic formula, workout or nutrition program.  My first response is always that I exercised regularly before and during my pregnancy.  I went into my pregnancy fit and I continued to exercise right up until I delivered.  With that said, I encourage you to start exercising immediately regardless of how far along you are in your pregnancy.  Any amount of exercise can increase your chances of bouncing back quickly and ensuring that your baby gets a healthy start to his/her life.”

Heather Glenn, Co-founder AlaVie Fitness

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate in the class?

Any woman who is currently expecting regardless of how far along she is in her pregnancy.  While first trimester moms are welcome to attend, the class will be geared towards second and third trimester moms.

Do I need to be a certain fitness level to attend?

All fitness levels will be welcome.

Is it safe for me to exercise while pregnant?

Not only is it safe, but numerous scientific studies prove that it improves both the mother's and the baby's health. "You need to be physically active during pregnancy. It has terrific benefits that are associated with a better pregnancy outcome and even shorter labors. It's a win-win for baby and for mom," says high-risk pregnancy expert Laura Riley, MD, spokeswoman for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and author of "Pregnancy: You and Your Baby."

What do I need to bring?

You’ll need to bring one set of hand weights between 5 and 8 lbs. and an exercise mat to class each day.  Please also bring a large water bottle (at least 24 ounces) and a towel.

What should I wear to class?

You will need to ensure you wear fairly new running shoes (purchased within the last 5 months).  Also, wear breathable clothing and layers so that you don’t overheat during the workout.  This is important for your safety and your baby’s.
