I can see and feel the difference in both my body and my personal spirit. I am looking forward to continuing on with my training to discover what other accomplishments I am capable of achieving.

Karmen Scheidegger
Director of Finance & Operations

  • Certificate of Qualification in Business Administration from the Swiss Confederation
  • Restaurant and Hotel Management Diploma

Karmen was born in Slovenia (one of the smallest countries in Europe), but grew up in Switzerland. In her youth, she was involved in all kinds of sports "but liked basketball the most."

In 1998, Karmen and her husband moved to the U.S. to pursue better job opportunities. They ended up in the Silicon Valley.

"For me the biggest impact moving to the Bay Area was the diversity of the people, the warm weather, European food (especially cheese) and to find one of the best chocolates from Switzerland at Trader Joe's."

Shortly after moving to the US, Karmen got pregnant with her son. Her daughter arrived a few years later.

"I started working for AlaVie Fitness during the summer of 2006. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a wonderful company."

Initially, Karmen started out as AlaVie's bookkeeper, gradually taking on more responsibilities as the company grew. She even joined the 9am boot camp class in Campbell and is still a camper there.

"I remember my first camp back in January, 2007. The first week was an awakening with lots of muscle aches. I hadn't worked out much since having kids. After the first week, it was amazing to see how my body changed. My biggest accomplishment is my endurance. I am proud to be able to keep up with my son. I am also able to do pushups for the first time in my life!"

When she's not working, Karmen enjoys spending time with her family, being outside, bike riding, and hiking.
