Jen Guiney- Golden Gate Park Head Coach & San Mateo Assistant Coach

  • ACE Certified Personal Trainer
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • BS in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Fitness
  • Minor in Nutrition

Jen has been participating in sport and dance for the majority of her life.

“I began Irish dancing when I was four and stopped to focus on basketball when I was a sophomore in high school,” she says, “I participated in almost every sport available to me as a child, but stuck to basketball for my four years of high school. I began playing Irish Football in high school.”

Jen earned four North American medals in Irish football at the Under-18 level, Junior and Senior level, and has traveled to Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Denver to play in the North American Finals - she continues to play for a team in Burlingame. In addition, she plays soccer and enjoys weight training, cardio kickboxing and boot camp. In other words, she’s always looking for a new physical challenge.

“I just recently signed up to run a half marathon with Team in Training. I’ve never trained to compete in an endurance event, so I'm looking forward to the challenge of running long-distance.”

Embracing fitness as a career was a way for Jen to share her passion for physical activity and sport with others.

“I enjoy guiding people to their health and fitness goals. I truly love it when campers tell me they’re sore,” she says, “I know then that I was able to lead them through a challenging workout. I also love seeing the joy in campers faces when they told me that have lost weight, fit into a pair of jeans they haven't worn for a while, are sleeping/feeling better, that their overall health and well-being has increased. There is a definite sense of satisfaction for me when I know campers have reaped the benefits of the program.”

In order to reach their fitness goals, Jen believes boot campers need to reach beyond what they think they can do.

"If people want to see significant changes in their bodies, they need to challenge themselves to take it to the next level," she says "I believe in each and every camper's ability to overcome their personal hurdles and to achieve success. I believe that with determination, persistence, and consistency each and every camper can reach their health and fitness goals."
