Denise Bradley - Campbell Assistant Coach / Physical Therapist
- Master of Science in Physical Therapy
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
- Former NCAA Division I Soccer Player
- CPR and First Aid Certified
Besides assistant coaching in Campbell and serving as AlaVie’s in-house physical therapist, Denise is an elite fitness competitor and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. A mother of a 3 1/2 year old daughter, Denise somehow also finds time to coach young girls’ sports teams, where she hopes to “instill a passion for athletics that will last a lifetime.”
Athletics have always played a big role in Denise’s life. She started playing soccer at age four, and by the time she was ten was playing on select teams for the State of California. After earning varsity letters in tennis, softball, volleyball, and track in high school, she went on to UC Berkeley to play NCAA Division I soccer.
Denise’s excels at communicating her passion for athletics and her fitness knowledge “to individuals at all fitness levels, from the first time athlete to the high level competitor.”
For the past ten years, she has balanced her coaching and athletic pursuits with a growing physical therapy practice. Specializing in the treatment of orthopedic injuries, Denise holds several advanced certifications in ergonomics as well as a Master’s degree in physical therapy from Boston University. She serves as the injury consultant for the entire AlaVie Fitness network.
According to Denise, one of the reasons boot camp works is that “fitness in a team environment brings out the competitive nature in people, and it helps build self-esteem.”
While fostering that competitiveness and pushing people to their personal limits, Denise also helps boot campers set realistic short-term goals that prevent them from over-training and injuring themselves. In addition, she spices up boot camp workouts with elements from her personal fitness routine.
“I try to keep very consistent with both my resistance training and cardio workouts. I am in the gym four times a week, and I do some form of cardio activity 5-7 days a week,” she explains, “I try to keep surprising my body.”
If you’ve ever experienced one of her workouts, you know Denise likes to keep surprising our bodies, too.
